About Us
Our organization
The Relocate the Temple store run is by volunteer members of the Preserve Our Cody Neighborhoods (POCN) group.
The POCN struggle
POCN was created in early 2023 in opposition to plans by the LDS Church to build a new temple in the middle of a quiet neighborhood in Cody, Wyoming.
The proposed location is not zoned for facilities like the temple, which is three times the allowed height of the neighborhood, has a 140-car parking lot and a 101-foot tower that will be illuminated all night, and is open from 6 am to 10 pm five days a week. If built in the proposed location, this would be the closest at temple has ever been built to an existing residential structure, at under 400 feet.
Despite reasonable objections conveyed through respectful civil discourse, and despite the existence of acceptable temple locations throughout Cody and the surrounding area, the Church refused to offer any alternative locations and proceeded to ram its misguided application through the city's Planning and Zoning Board, with a conflicted City Planner, one obviously biased Board member, and tactics that included baseless threats of lawsuits made to Board members, City officials and Cody residents.
POCN is now waging a protracted legal battle against the Church in Wyoming District Court, the costs of which are significant.
Enter the Relocate the Temple merch store! All items in our store are original designs, meant to be iconic of POCN's mission. This includes the ongoing struggle to prevent the unnecessary harm a temple in this location will cause, and to preserve the character of Cody neighborhoods, Cody's dark skies, and the quiet of Skyline drive—benefits enjoyed by residents across the city of Cody. 100% of the profits from sales on this site go directly to the legal fees and other costs incurred opposing one of the wealthiest and most powerful religious organizations in human history.
